Lynn Shigekawa

Communications Lead

Lynn Shigekawa is a non profit consultant assisting organizations with communications, outreach, development, training and improving their bottom lines. She is most recently retired from Friendswood ISD where she headed up the funding development for the Friendswood ISD Education Foundation. She successfully completed a Million Dollar Campaign for the foundation. Prior to that she wrote two large federal grants for funding drug education and training administrators and staff in emergency response protocols.

In addition, Shigekawa served on the UHCL Funding Our Future board, the Clear Lake Area Chamber of Commerce board, the City of Alvin Planning & Zoning and Ethics Commissions. She was a founding member of the Nolan Ryan Foundation and the Development Director for Armand Bayou Nature Center. She also worked as a fundraising consultant/grant writer for The Rose to increase services and buy new mammography equipment; and assisted the Dickinson Historical Society with funding to build its Railroad Museum. She served on the board of the Alvin Historical Museum and helped them to increase community engagement, renovate a cottage, develop new programs, increase attendance and raise money.

Shigekawa is a 35+ year member of the Association of Business and Professional Women having served as president and chairs of various committees. Her most recent focus with this organization has been to support two local women’s shelters.
