Voter Registration

Do you need to register to vote or update your information?

You may fill out a voter registration application online, print it, sign it, and mail it to the voter registrar in your county of residence. Your registration becomes effective 30 days after it is submitted and accepted by the County Voter Registrar. The County Voter Registrar’s address will be provided once you submit your information.


Request a postage-paid voter registration application.

If you do not have a printer at home, you can still register to vote and/or update your information. All you have to do is click here and submit your information. The Secretary of State will mail you an application for you to sign and mail back. This application will be postage paid. 

Vote by Mail

Requirements and complete information to vote by mail here

  • Away from the county of residence on Election Day and during the early voting period;
  • Sick or disabled;
  • 65 years of age or older on Election Day;
  • or Confined in jail, but eligible to vote

Print or fill out a vote by mail application

Valid IDs

You must provide a photo ID when voting. Here is a list of valid IDs.

  • Texas Driver License issued by the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS)
  • Texas Election Identification Certificate issued by DPS
  • Texas Personal Identification Card issued by DPS
  • Texas Handgun License issued by DPS
  • United States Military Identification Card containing the person’s photograph
  • United States Citizenship Certificate containing the person’s photograph
  • United States Passport (book or card)
