Mark P. Jones is the James A. Baker III Institute for Public Policy Fellow in Political Science, the Joseph D. Jamail Chair in Latin American Studies and a professor in the Department of Political Science at Rice University.
Jones also serves as the faculty director of Rice’s Master of Global Affairs Program and co-directs the Baker Institute’s Presidential Elections Program.
Jones is the lead author of Texas Politics Today (2021) as well as the editor of Voting and Political Representation in America: Issues and Trends (2020). He is also a regular opinion contributor to national and state media outlets and is frequently quoted in the international, national and Texas media regarding Texas politics, government, and public policy.
Jones received his doctorate from the University of Michigan and his bachelor’s degree from Tulane University
