Ride DART Free to Vote in the 2020 General Election DART is providing free trips to voting locations in the DART Service Area.

How to Ride DART Free to Vote
DART is providing FREE transportation to voting locations on two Saturdays of early voting and on Election Day. Voters can ride at no charge on all DART bus, light rail, Dallas Streetcar, GoLink and Paratransit service, and on the Trinity Railway Express (TRE) between EBJ Union Station and CentrePort/DFW Airport Station.

DART will provide free rides to voters on the following days:

Early voting on Saturday, Oct. 17, 2020 and Saturday, Oct. 24, 2020.

Election Day, Tuesday, Nov. 3, 2020.

Free DART service will be available all day to help you get to your polling location.

No proof of voter registration is required to ride free on Oct. 17, Oct. 24 or Nov. 3.

SPECIAL RULES for Delivery by COMMON AND CONTRACT CARRIERS (§§ 81.005 and 86.006, Texas Election Code)
1. If you use a common or contract carrier to return your ballot, the carrier must be a business whose primary service is transporting or delivering items.
2. If you return your carrier envelope by common or contract carrier, your carrier envelope must be accompanied by a delivery receipt when delivered to the early voting clerk. The receipt must indicate the name and address of the person who delivered the carrier-envelope to the common or contract carrier, and the date, hour, and address where the carrier-envelope was received by the common or contract carrier.
3. Your ballot will not be counted if it is picked up by a common or contract carrier at an office of a political party or candidate in the election, office for a specific purpose or general-purpose political committee involved in the election, an entity that requested the election be held (unless the delivery is a forwarding to the early voting clerk), or a candidate’s house unless the address of the candidate is your address. LAW: Senate Bill 5 (85th Legislature, 1st CS, 2017), effective December 1, 2017, amended Section 84.001 to provide that an electronic signature is not permitted on an ABBM; Section 84.007 was also amended to provide that if an ABBM is faxed or emailed or if an FPCA is faxed, then the voter must submit the ORIGINAL application BY MAIL to the Dallas County Elections Department – EV Clerk, so that we may receive the original no later than the 4th business day after receiving the emailed or faxed ABBM or faxed FPCA. Sections 84.001(b) and 84.007(b-1). If the EV Clerk does not receive the original ABBM or FPCA by that deadline, then the emailed or faxed ABBM or faxed FPCA will be considered incomplete, and the EV Clerk may not send the voter a ballot based on the faxed or emailed ABBM or faxed FPCA. However, if the original is still received before the deadline to apply for a ballot by mail, the EV Clerk may process that ABBM/FPCA as a new application.

Effective December 1, 2017: SB 5- Section 84.007, of the Election Code, states the following regarding a Ballot by Mail Application that is submitted via fax or email to our office:

If you are faxing or emailing your Application for Ballot by Mail, please note: The original application (hard copy) MUST ALSO BE submitted by mail and be received by our office no later than the fourth (4th) business day after the fax and/or email was received.

 

5) Hand Delivery of Ballot by Mail

 

 You may hand-deliver your ballot in person anytime after ballot is received and voted before or on Election Day, at the Early Voting Clerk’s Office at:

During regular business hours from 8:00am-4:30pm Monday-Friday.  Any time during the extended hours listed on the chart below and on Election Day from 7:00 AM-7:00 PM.

Note that a voter may only hand-deliver his or her own carrier envelope and not the carrier-envelope for another individual, can only make such a hand delivery during Early Voting Period and Election Day and must deliver the carrier-envelope to the early voting clerk’s office. The voter will be asked to present an acceptable form of photo ID listed in Section 63.0101(a) of the Texas Election Code. If the voter does not possess and cannot reasonably obtain an acceptable form of photo ID, the voter can execute a Reasonable Impediment Declaration and provide a supporting form of identification listed in Section 63.0101(b) of the Texas Election Code. Also, if the voter has a Voter Registration Certificate containing the Disability Exemption (E) notation, the voter may present it. The voter will also be asked to sign a signature roster.

This form is for absent Uniformed Service members, their families, and citizens residing outside the United States.
It is used to register to vote, request an absentee ballot, and update your contact information.

A ballot that is mailed from overseas and is postmarked or accompanied by a delivery receipt showing the voter submitted
the ballot for delivery by 7:00 pm on Election Day must arrive by 5:00 pm on the 5th day after Election Day (or the next
business day after the 5th day after Election Day, if the 5th day falls on a weekend or holiday).
