Shemin Proctor
Shemin Proctor is a Partner at the Hunton Andrews Kurth law firm and the former Managing Partner of the Washington, D.C. office of Andrews Kurth Kenyon. She divides her time between the Washington and Houston offices of the firm, where she represents major energy companies in proceedings before the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission and the federal courts.
Shemin is one of the 50 women founders of the Center for Women in Law (CWIL) at the University of Texas and she was a speaker at the CWIL’s 2017 Women's Power Summit on L aw & Leadership. She regularly serves as a panelist or moderator for numerous legal organizations.
Born in Washington, D.C., she spent her elementary school years in Maryland and middle school years in New Jersey before moving to Dallas, where she graduated from Greenhill School. She then graduated from Harvard-Radcliffe College and Harvard Law School. After law school she moved to Houston to become a law clerk for the Honorable Kenneth M. Hoyt in the Southern District of Texas.
Shemin is a member of The Links, Inc. and Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. which are predominantly African American women's organizations committed to servant leadership and community service. Additionally, she has actively and generously supported the local, state, and national campaigns of many Democratic candidates and officeholders.
